I have a few albums (all part filled) that I would like to get the nicer stamps out of and into a single nice album. All my stamps had been hinged by those I got them from or myself, but am finding I would like to go forth using mounts. Is there a 'best way' to remove the hinges and put them into mounts, or do I need to soak as if on paper?
Thanks!

I peel the hinge from the album with the stamp attached. I then use a qtip or small brush to apply a little water to the hinge remaining on the stamp. I slowly peel the remnant from the stamp.

The q-tip method is good. I would recommend practicing on a few damaged ones from the album to perfect your technique.

When I have to remove a remaining hinge, use your tongs to grasp the hinge and slowly "roll" the hinge off. Practice on a few unwanted stamps, very easy to remove a hinge.

I just cut the hinge at the join with a box cutter and mount the stamp in the new album with the hinge remnant still attached. Why risk destroying a stamp that is already marked with a hinge by trying to remove what is obvious? You cannot make the stamp "unhinged".
