Blank Canada Admiral Coil Stamps

Please note that what may look like blank Canada Admiral coil stamps (perforated 8) from 1912 to 1924 are actually blank start and end tabs found on Canadian stamp coil rolls mostly from 1935 to 1969.

That would explain singles...But what about blocks of blanks...?

Since it is question of COIL here, there would not be any block... There could be strip of limited length (I am not sure the exact length of start and end strip...).

Here's a picture of a blank tab strip attached to a coil stamp strip:



The blank tabs on the left have a perforation gauge measurement of around 8 while the coil stamps on the right have a perforation gauge measurement of around 9.5 so that it may be possible that the blank tabs could be separated from the coil stamps and be passed off as "blank Canada Admiral coil stamps".

Jogil, from the above I gather that there should be two stamps in each roll with odd perforations? It looks like the leftmost stamp in your strip has the perforation 8 on the top. Is that correct?

Petert4522: The tab is stuck on the back of the connecting coil stamp so that the stamp still has perforation 9.5 on the top next to perforation 8 on the tab. Look closer by clicking on the image and see that the perforations do not match up at the connection point. The tab has full holes and the coil stamp has teeth and half holes there.

My interest in this lies in the same kind of old perforating wheels and old perforator of perforation 8 (7.95) being used unchanged for perforating from 1912 to 1930 for coil stamps and from 1935 to 1969 for coil tabs. I just found this out this week and have shared this on here. The sheets were perforated in one direction only vertically and were cut up into strips of 10 to make the coil tabs that were attached to the coil stamps as start and end tabs in a coil roll.

For coil stamps from 1912 to 1930, both the coil stamps and coil tabs were made and perforated the same way as perforation 8 (7.95). If you were to draw a horizontal line across through the perforation holes it would not be straight for both the coil stamps and the coil tabs.



For coil stamps from 1935 to 1948, the coil stamps have perforation 8 (7.85) and the coil tabs have perforation 8 (7.95). If you were to draw a horizontal line across through the perforation holes it would be straight for the coil stamps but it would not be straight for the coil tabs.



For coil stamps from 1948 to 1969, the coil tabs have perforation 8 (7.95) and the coil stamps have perforation 9.5 (9.50). If you were to draw a horizontal line across through the perforation holes it would not be straight for the coil tabs but it would be straight for the coil stamps.
