Are they still out there? When doing a search I pulled up a Google Maps page that states 'permanently closed.' None of the links to email anyone seem to work.
Anyone know?

They are still open. (650) 306-9150. Saw the same link with "permanently closed", but not true.
Edit: maybe listed as permanently closed because wrong address or moved? The address on the web site is different. |

They did physically move from Sunnyvale to Redwood City (both on the San Francisco peninsula), so that's probably why you saw that warning from Google Maps. |

Ikey- I still can't find any Email link that works. Any idea who to send a query to? Looking for possible back copies of some periodicals. |

I was referring to the general email links on the site. I have now started at the top of the list by sending a query to Mr Leven and if that comes back or isn't answered will keep moving down. In event anyone is interested in this topic I will update the results of my inquiries, thanks to those responding. |

OK, moving right down the list. Have sent another query to one of the officers.
I do get it, this is an organization staffed by volunteers. This is however sadly typical of what many of us run into these days with many organizations. I'm not blaming anyone, it is what it is.. |

One of the other sad things we run into is our eMail ending-up in their spam box; how often do you check yours?
Which reminds me ...
Good luck with your quest, Stamps1962!

Generally speaking, no one should ever publish their email addresses on a web site. This is because there are many ways to 'harvest' emails from any web site on the internet. For example, for years an app named CherryPicker was available for next to nothing. You simply typed in key words and let it run for a few days on your PC. So if you typed in 'stamps' or 'stamp collecting' it would then generate a huge spreadsheet of harvested emails from any web site that had those key words on it. These email list could then be sold to spammers or others who wanted a 'stamp' mailing list. Today they have more advanced spiders and bots which do this kind of harvesting.
If you don't want spam coming into your email account (filtered or not) never post your email address on any web sites. (To see if your email address is on any web sites use a Google search and put your email address in quotes "joeblow@anywhere.com". If it returns anything consider removing it from that site.)
The Western Philatelic Library web site looks like it was designed in 1998. I assume that someone with little experience put to together and unwisely posted the email addresses. These addresses then got spammed to death and folks either killed off the accounts or stopped checking them. Don |

Back to the original request, I would call them and leave a voicemail on their answering machine. This is a legitimate but all-volunteer organization, and the names on the roster that I recognize are older folks. They may or may not spend as much time online as some of the rest of us. (I know one of the board members, and sending the occasional email is about the limit of his technological comfort.) |

Several leaders of WPL are members of my local club, Sequoia Stamp Club in Redwood City, CA. Our next meeting is this Tuesday night March 8. If you have no answer to your query by the night of March 7 (Pacific time), send me a private message here and I will see if I can talk to someone on Tuesday night.
You may find it more effective to phone them. When they are opened, the phone is "manned". Philatarium is correct on this point.

cjpalermo- thanks for the offer. Still nothing so maybe a word would help?
I am trying to find a large lot of the 'France and Colonies Philatelist' pre 1996. I may just need to call them as I think the emails are going to long discontinued mail boxes. |

Just checking in, cjpalero did you find out anything? I have pretty much given up this deal as a lost cause. |
