I was just wondering if anyone had made a boy scout themed stamp collection. I am thinking about starting one from world wide issues and would like info on reference material.

Thanks

Hi 12CC. I did exactly what you are asking for some 50 years ago for my scout pack! I realize that I am a bit behind as far as it now goes, but maybe if you contact the ATA ( American Topical Association )?
Something ejse you can do is just google 'boy scouts on stamps' and you will get hundreds of pictures of these!
Good luck with your project.

Peter

Hi 12CC. I have been working on the same thing for a couple of months now.
Have gotten a good collection from the US and other countries.
our troop is getting ready to have the Pine wood next week and a few are putting some of the stamps on there cars.
It will be a blast im sure.
Good luck with your collecting.

Kurt,

Hi 12CC try this link for the Europa CEPT 2007 issues which celebrated the 100'th anniversary of the scout movement, it has all the participating European countries listed with images http://europa-stamps.blogspot.com.c...ears_22.html
There is also the 'Scouts on stamps society international' web site which will probably be your best bet.
Try auction sites like Delcampe for scout society postal stationary and you may consider the Mafeking emergency siege issue designed by Lord Robert Baden-Powell, the founder of the scout movement.

Wow, thanks for the help and it looks like I am not alone. I also found this site http://sossi.org/index.shtml for the Scouts on Stamps Society International (SOSSI)

I found some unused Scouts on Stamps albums in a recent huge lot I bought. There was also several thousand stamps, sheets, souvenir sheets etc., mostly MNH. There is also a catalogue of sorts, with pictures and Scott numbers where available. I have a copy of that through 1985. The catalogue was discontinued after a while because of copyright issues with the Scott numbers. I don't collect this topic and am slowly selling things as I find the chance.
