I recently came across a 230P4, which is the Columbian plate proof on card. What surprises me is a very clear sign across the bottom letters, most noticeably in the letters "LAND" of what appears to be a re-entry or a shifted transfer. My thought is the shifted transfer might be more likely, as a re-entry would have been done carefully, but I thought the proving process would preclude any such thing.

So is this possible and if so have others been seen? I don't believe the Scott catalog has any proof listings with transfer varieties.

Plate proofs can and do show double and shifted transfers at times. Only die proofs can not

There are a few proofs with plate varieties listed in the revenue section, notably the foreign entries on the 60 cent second and thirds issues.
