Does anybody have any future predictions on what the next Great Britain ruler stamps will look like? If it's Charles, will the country continue making machins or issue a new theme?

Considering the poor man`s ears, I think they will stay with a profile.

well, considering that Arnold Machin died in 1999, I don't suppose he left behind any portraits of Chuck, so that would likely rule out that possibility.

In another topic in this blog I noted that, in Canada, Charles is the only Prince of Wales never to be on a stamp. Even his successors William (V) and George (VII) have been depicted.

Frontal would mean a return to the Wilding type of the 1950s - I think that would work, despite the broad design presumption in favour of profile. There was a rejected, non-profile design for the Edward VII stamps -

I like the Edward VII paste-up, too!

Well, if the current Queen lives as long as her mum, they might not be making stamps by then!

Here are the next two after Elizabeth II & Charles III on a real Canadian stamp:

I think he will. It would be hard to get the public to regard him under another name, although he may choose from: Charles Philip Arthur George.
Charles I was executed, but Charles II was known as the merry monarch - so merry that he left behind no legitimate heirs!
"Philip" would evoke the bad times with the Spanish Armada, when Mary I married Philip of Spain, whose ships dropped by after her death but were destroyed by a great storm.
"Arthur" would be a bit presumptuous! And sadly heirs named Arthur have all died before accession.
"George" would be boring, I think, though they're going to get another one after William V.

The fake Canadian Charles stamp was made from this Jersey stamp:

ld, wedding bands on men is a relatively recent custom. I don't know if any of the British kings wore one.

Current betting is that Charlie will be choosing GEORGE as his reigning name... should Liz decide to abdicate or die.
George 5, Edward 8, and Elizabeth whose number is disputed, have chosen their first name as monarch.
Other 20th century monarchs Victoria, Edward 7, George 6 chose another name.

KGB,

Indeed, I checked out his father, and no wedding band there:

I do suppose my query had a certain impishness to it. But, as I can see, he is merely following his father's example.

WRT disputed regale numbering, in addition to QEII being QE north of the border, wouldn't KEVIII also be disputed? But was he in for too short a period for the issue to arise, or is it that this was from before the Scots either caring or having a voice? And, KEVII? Must say the earlier KE's were not at all kindly to the Scots, were they? Probably worse than QEI, imho.

best,

Larry

This is total speculation, but if commercial interests prevail, I would expect that they might very well use a Machin-like image of Charles following accession. The current Machin series must be quite a money spinner and once the series ends, I would suggest the amount of new issue purchases going to collectors would decline. I know that if I were running the RM, I would move heaven and earth to re-animate Arnold Machin.

But, on the other hand, I gather the monarch has to approve of the image and I am not sure that the "modern" design of the Machin fits with Charles' broad artistic sensibilities.
