I do not think that issue was a matter of right of way. The police made an error and got upset that he called them on it. So they decided to flex their muscle and take him in on drummed up charges. They issued a summons for it hoping he would not show and just pay a fine. It will blow up against the police since there was a video.
As far as the postal vehicles having right of way, I would say yes they do. But that does not include running red lights just when it comes to slow driving and stopping in the road when they need to. |

One of the officers claimed, it is alleged, that the police had the right-of-way. (I don't know how that justifies the arrest.) Others are commenting that this is a federal crime, as the police were interfering with the delivery of the mail. Whatever the circumstances, one has to shake one's head. |

No .... A postal vehicle has no special right of way . The rules of the road are determined by the state not the Federal Government .The police can not stop or hinder the delivery of the mail but the right of way to police and especially the fire department takes priority. |

Many motor vehicle codes have funeral processions as the #1 right of way. Emergency vehicles are not always mentioned or are indirectly covered under the "move your vehicle out of the lane of travel when approached by emergency vehicles with flashing lights and/or siren." And remember, many places still have an ordinance requiring a victory garden in every yard and Wednesday afternoon as energy conversation day. |

To often LEO's exhibit a sense of entitlement and don't take kindly when not shown the proper obsequiousness. Looks like that is what happened here. |

I don't see why some people assume this is a racially-motivated matter. Many large city police officers feel they must act aggressively when confronted. It's a shame, and not often can this mind-set be defended, but I certainly understand it. I hope commonsense and justice will prevail. |
