I have been through my Scott's several times now and still cannot put my finger on this one. All the help would be greatly appreciated at this end. Image has been altered so that the overprint is easier to see.

Your eyes are not deceiving you. It is surcharged as a postal savings stamp, and will not be listed in Scott.

Thank you khj for keeping my sanity in check. It's one of those stamps to tuck away for the time being. The scan doesn't do it justice but there is a small tear on the bottom about 3 perfs in from the left. Thanks again.

I forgot to mention this stamp is from the Pacheng printing (1944 - 46) with the "c" secret mark (Scott#551)

Yes, that is correct if the stamp had not been overprinted to serve as a postal savings stamp.

Also, the surcharge (left column) is for 50c. The right column indicates it is for postal savings. So it is a 50c on $1 postal savings stamp.
