I have both Netherlands and Switzerland in Davo albums. I am very pleased with both although sometimes they miss a major variety. I get mine directly from the company, http://davo.nl which I always experience as being cheaper. Another American source would be Stanly Gibbons. Peter |

I am not a fan of DAVO albums. I just recently finished moving my Netherlands collection (1852-2000) from Davo albums to Steiner pages which are to my collecting style. I like to specialize and add pages; I have more freedom to do so with the Steiner pages which are based on Scott Catalogues format. Davo appears to follow the Michel catalogue but not as thoroughly. |

I have used them briefly. They seem attractive and are lower priced than Lighthouse, etc. For me the big drawback was the lack of any flexibility as to the binder type. They do not have any option for a ring binder that enables pages to lie flat. That may not seem a big deal, but it is for me when working with them. |

Davo have nice quality of build but they make 0 as 0 research for the content, just for the canada they have wrong size of mounts that make the images showing over the top of the stamps ( Canada ½ cents Small and Larges Queen ) |

The Davo is a mid-range album - not as good as Lindner or Lighthouse, and with much lower capacity than Schaubek, but OK. Also has the disadvantage that, whilst you can buy a country binder separately, you can't buy the pages separately. |

Thanks for the feedback in here. I mean the album looks very nice and compact, but I guess customization and accessibility sounds like an issue. |

If I had to pick at the mid-range, I'd go for Schaubek - a two-peg binder with greater capacity. Or they offer springbacks or ring-bound. |

You can buy just the pages from the davo.nl site. I like my Davo Luxe Switzerland albums for quality. The Luxe pages are nice and thick and the binders are good. I do have to add blank pages (purchased separately) for the earlier stuff (e.g., Strubles) as they don't cover varieties very well. I like the clear top-loaded mounts. I purchased mine on ebay from seller Roecy for good prices as he occasionally put certain volumes "on sale". Not sure he still sells them. Edit: obviously I meant davo.nl not dave.nl |

Interesting - the UK Davo stockists only seem to offer the whole package.

Family,
I received my copy of The American Philatelist the other day. Included in the package was a Palo catalog which includes all he different Davo albums. Did anybody else get this too?

I don't subscribe to the American Philatelist, but I received a Palo catalogue last month, probably because I'm on his customer database. Very nice catalogue

I have thought about buying hingless albums but they would be a problem for me as they do not use Scott catalogs and therefore, the spaces will not be numbered. That means I will have to number them. And not being made by Scott, means (to me) that spaces for some stamps will be missing. The numbering will not be complete. That is why I make my own pages. Also, they do not give examples of the pages so you do not know what you are getting until you buy the album.
