I was busy with preparations in the days leading up to the show - I missed the invitation to meet as SCF-ers on Saturday at 4pm! It would have been nice to meet those of you I don't already know.

Nice idea, Garfield - let's do it again in 364 days!

For my part, the show was excellent - I always like to meet up with friends and co-conspirators, I learn a ton from the exhibits (wow...they were spectacular this year!!) and the dealers always have more than I could possibly afford to take home. I exchanged some items with fellow collectors, attended the Philatelic Specialist's sold-out breakfast and got a whole bunch of BNAPS business done as well.

I hope those of you who attended also enjoyed it. If not, please suggest how it could be improved. Better yet - volunteer at the show, even if you are from out of Ottawa: we have several people who come in for the show and also give several hours of their time to help out. It's a community - not an exclusive enclave for the rich and famous!

I agree with Peter. An outstanding show. The exhibits were top class, the presentation on 1st flights was so interesting that I decided to start exploring this area of philately in more depth. On the down side, too many great dealers, with great stamps I could not resist to acquire (blew my next 3 months of stamp budget this afternoon...).
The weather was great (raining so I could cancel golfing to attend the show).
What was even better was the opportunity to meet a few of the Forum members. As suggested by GPortch, lets organize something more formal for Orapex 2017 (the Canada's 150th birthday year may be a potential rallying topic....? just a thought. And Jimjung, please post those nice re-entries when you have a minute.

I walked around the gallery area at around 4 pm on Sat...there were a few groups of people milling about..hard to tell which of you were members of the SCF...and I wasn't about to go each group and ask are you part of SCF.. maybe next time a small
sign or placard could be placed on one of the many common tables located in that area....nevertheless had a great two days..this was my 4th Orapex...and the best so far.

Garfield said something during our meeting about how there are still stamps with flaws that are waiting to be found. I totally agree as I found a number of stamps with flaws for my collection. Here are a couple that were undescribed and purchased as normal stamps. 10c Consort with Double Epaulettes. 17c position 1 Plate Flaw upper left frameline.
