Hi,

Please see this cover sent 29 April 1971, to the USA, airmail 2nd class or as "printed papers".

The franking is 3 x 4d predecimal commemoratives plus 2 x 1/2p decimal Machins. I make the total franking as 6p. The 12d in predecimal being equal to 5p plus 1p from the Machins. This fits the 1oz rate then in effect.

Is my math correct? (Reason I ask, is that my usual convention with predecimals during the conversion period is to divide by 2 and subtract a 1/2p. But with the multiple use here, I did a "correct conversion" at 240/100.)

Thanks,

Larry

Yes, that's right. 12d = 1/- = 5p.
