"Lawn mowing is the first home service that consumers can order from Posti. We will pilot the service this summer throughout the country. The idea for the lawn mowing service came from mail delivery employees. We believe many customers will be happy to outsource lawn mowing when we make it convenient for them to do so," says Anu Punola, Director at Posti.

If the USPS ever starts this, hopefully I can pay them in stamps!

If they would accept used stamps or more especially covers, I would subscribe to such a service. But I can see a sticking point. While mint stamps have their face value for use as a medium of exchange, using used stamps or covers would turn the exchange into a barter. I guess I'll just have to put my excess on ebay, get what I can, and pay for lawn service that way.

You'll likely be able to use stamps ... but only at 50% face value.

I would think the real money would be in snow plowing and shoveling.

That's an amusing image: a mail truck with a plow on front. But there was a thread here a couple of months ago about how mail trucks tend to catch fire. That's not so amusing. One hires the mailman to plow the driveway and he burns down your house.

But it creates a unique opportunity to salvage some crash covers. Perhaps they should go to the homeowner as compensation.
