Hi guys.. thanks for reading this.
I have found that my grandfather left a very large collections of stamps (more than 500 pages). They are divided by countries (some countries dont even exist anymore)
Thing is.. I dont know anything about stamps, and I dont know if they might have value.. I believe yes (for what I have searched online).
Can you please comment on my stamps? What can I do to sell them? How do I know if I have a little jewel among all of them? =)
Please notice Im only including 5 pages of about 500.
Thanks so much. Mercedes (Argentina)

It looks like your grandfather was a very knowledgeable collector, and did a great job with his album.
From your pictures it is very difficult to tall anything about value - it is very possible you have something nice in there. My first piece of advice would be is to keep this collection as a memorial to your grandfather.
If you would really like to know more the best thing is to check with a ( possible ) local stampclub.

Thanks Peter for your reply!
The thing is my family would like to keep it, but maybe sell a few stamps if they have good value.
Im sorry but here in Argentina I don't know anyone serious that might help me. How do I know they will tell me the truth about the value of a particular stamp? Should I check with 2 stamps sellers? Im lost as you can see..
Thanks a lot again! Mercedes.

mercedes, we can assist you, I`m sure, but it will require some work on your part.

The best thing I can can suggest for now is to scan the pages rather than photograph them. There are many programs and web sites available for free for online storage of these images. If you can place the scans in order--just like in the album--we will be in a better position to review the pages and give advice. You could provide us a link to the web site once you are done uploading the scans.

As a word of caution, while your grandfather seems to have had good taste in his collecting, this isn`t the same thing as being able to collect stamps of great monetary value. We all like to dream about valuable stamps, but most in our collections have a value of from 25 cents to maybe ten dollars (American.)

Mercedes, there are two philatelic organizations in Argentina that I could find. I only have the names, and have no idea if you are close to one of them, but maybe you can contact them and find a better way of finding out what you have.
a. Asociacion Filatelica Tematica Argentina ( Buenos Aires )
b. Centro Filatelico de Lujan ( Lujan )

If you have any more questions don't hesitate to ask here! Hope this helps,

Peter
