Does the imperforated left side along with the different color or shading influence the catalog number? please, support me with the catalog # of the left stamp if possible.
Both are Scott 372. The left stamp with the straight edge and vertical line is from a pane position that shows the line that divides the left and right pane, where the panes are cut to separate the panes of 50 stamps.
I'm not sure, but I think straight edge stamps have been discussed here before. By my calculations there are 8 possible positions for the straight edge those being 1-right, 2-left, 3-top, 4-bottom, 5-left and bottom, 6-right and bottom, 7-left and top, 8-right and top. I only consider a real straight edge as to have the cut guide line present. Two guide lines on one stamp is pretty unusual. Of the several hundred straight edge stamp with guide lines I have in my collection, I only have 3 with both lines. Back in the day I think there was more interest in such and collectors put together reconstructed sets of all the possible positions. I have seen them offered on the bay and kick myself for not going after them. I haven't seen any in a while. Cheers! Wolf-==-
