I didn't want to imply re-entry in the title, but I thought this was interesting. I have several other examples (all used) but none have these horizontal lines in all of the letters of "Postage", but none in Revenue. It is a pity that it has a large tear/scuff at the top. I don't have a mint copy to check. Is this normal?

Partime, I am not sure but this looks like a job for Superm....eh I mean Wert! I believe these look more like re-entry than the ones he posted earlier.

Well, if Ralph was active (re-entries.com), I would send it his way, but he is still dealing with various issues. In closer examination, it does appear to be some sort of re-entry ... I even see some indications on the other side. A keeper, nonetheless.

I'm not so sure about the re-entry theory. If it was a re-entry, what is bein re-entered (i.e. re-engraved)? The lines are in the middle of the letters. A re-entry would show either as a marginal feature (doubling or prominent thickening of lines on value tablets, for example), enhanced shading or an enhanced feature such as beard, hair, eyebrow, etc.

I think you just have messy wiping of ther plate.
