Only one rule. It must be possible to see the image of the stamp.

Start with this ebay listing:

http://item.ebay.com/321954913692

Is this the worst stamp image on ebay?

What gets me is that this clown has over 11000 sales. Has he not learned how to take a picture yet?

His listing says he is an 'Experienced Seller'. At what, exactly?

One pet peeve of mine are the sellers who list used albums and never show anything of the pages. You are left to guess if they are all marked up, have miscut black mounts all over them, or what.

Here's another gem.

http://www.ebay.com/itm/IRELAND-USE...262470251553

Ireland 10A differs from 10 only in the color of the overprint (carmine, versus more of a tomato red for the 10), so a good quality scan using a color calibrated scanner is essential to identify it, and not surprisingly there is over a 50% misidentification rate among ebay sellers. Of course 10A has a much higher catalog value. That wouldn't have anything to do with the misidentifications ...

Hi cjpalermo1964. That seller does not know how to crop a picture. There is no need to have such a wide background area around the stamp. I seen a penny black once where the seller tilted the stamp on an angle when he took the pic. The pic was blurry and no item condition was stated. What he was hiding was the fact the stamp was cut into on the top margin. Golden rule don't buy from sellers who don't offer good clear pics of the stamp. And who don't state the faults.

jamesw: I've seen a few like that one too - fuzzy wuzzy photo syndrome. Unless you have some sort of professional set up, use a scanner instead of a camera. Cameras may be necessary for massive large bulky lots, but not a single stamp (or even a page of stamps) or cover.

There's also a SCF member here who needs to crop his images - I see them in the ebay ad at the top of page on occasion. I forgot his userid, but it only takes seconds to crop and save an image. I would recommend IrfanView; a free downloadable program, that can process hundreds to thousands of images in very little time.

Jamesw, that one will be tough to beat. The image, such as it is, is dated Mar 21, 2009. Hmmm.

I always wonder what the seller is thinking in a case like this. If they are trying to hide faults, then they are certainly doing a good job. How would they ever sell anything, unless it was at 2 - 5 % as a space filler ?

Jamesw - That is a serious winner there.

I think I see bigfoot.
