I have been following a 356 ten cent coil pair for the past year. It has been offered by at least 3 different sellers on ebay. The auction runs it's course and shows a winning bidder. A few weeks later the same identical item is listed again under a different seller. It has the same PF cert every time. It seems the people working together are trying to run up the bidding to an acceptable amount they are then willing to part with item being offered. Is this type of business acceptable on ebay?

Sounds like the work of the British cartel. Do a search on the board here, the behavior you describe is their modus operandi. |

Coilcollector, a very welcome to this forum. Another way we can answer this question is if you post the actual ebay lot, by number. It is OK to do so, especially ion a case like this when you may be warning someone else of this behavior. Peter |

The answer to your question is yes. Profits vs time and expense to root out evil. |

coilcollector, if you use the "search" function on this forum and put in any of the names on the three screen shots you showed you will get several posts about the 'British cartel'. You can also search for 'British cartel' and get the same result. These posts will show you how these folks work.

CC, as advised, use the search function (top of the page) and you will find several posts regarding the British Cartel and the many names used for listings on ebay. Shill bidding assured on their listing. Its not multiple sellers. Same seller, multiple listing names. |

The listing by buystamps is almost certainly legit. The others are scams. |

How odd! According to their feedback, they actually do sell some high value stamps (mixed in with lots of cheapies). This is surely the work of 1 person (more likely than not identified) with multiple user names, but what gain? I have plenty of theories if no stamps changed hands, but this does not appear to be the case.

Did they really change hands or were they just "sold" to another one of his accounts or to a shill of his? |

Google: "0det/winter-storm/air-mail selling regums & shilling on ebay" (Copy and paste this in the search box, excluding quotation marks, and you'll get it as the first hit.) It's the full story on the Cartel. A fascinating, painfully long, and sometimes difficult to follow discussion. It'll answer all your questions if you make it all the way through. |

These dealers are well known. Shill bids and regummed stamps sold as NH. Stay away. |
