After years of looking , I finally found another nicely centered, fault free, certified, Ryder, Crouse & Welch Match Stamp, Scott RO164d. In my opinion, this is the most attractive Match Stamp with its vibrant color. Most copies you see, especially on ebay, are very defective and not centered well and most dealers don't have it in stock. I just wanted to share this magnificent stamp with you. Never give up looking-you never know when your next stamp will pop up!

A very nice stamp indeed. Are you willing to share where you found it?

That is a very nice example. And it is true that this stamp is often defective, and/or has bad color and centering. This example is almost certainly a remainder, which is probably the only way to get such a nice one.

I obtained it from Hunt and Co. PSE certificate. Here is a pic of the best Ryder stamp I had for years, I had a couple others in decent condition but didn't meet my standards the more I collected, so I placed them back into circulation.

I would sure love to compare the vertical perforations with another Bureau issued m&m, both sides are angled on this stamp. The angle does run in the same direction on both sides, however they look funny to me.

I noticed PSE describes it as the color of "lake" which is a very interesting color. Northwest Philatelic Library has an excellent article on this color starting on page 11 of
