Hello there I just got from my father a small album with hundreds of stamps from all over the world. For me as a novice to this world I wanted to know more about the stamps, should I sell them, are they worth anything, etc
I would appreciate your professional help very much and thought about posting pictures, country by country. Would anyone be interested in helping a layman? thanks very much in advance Mark

Hi Meheso, and welcome to the forum. We are not professionals, but we will do our best anyway. It would be nice if you could show us some pictures to begin with, so we know a bit more as to what you have.

Hi Peter and thank you for your quick reply. The maps are in a "country by country" order and still same pages still need to be categorized. I thought about taking pictures of all the stamps of each country starting more or less alphabetically. I am starting with the British Solomon Isles, British "Guiana" |

Thank you for showing these. There is nothing that appears to be of significant value so far - looks mostly like a novice's collection.
One positive is that the stamps and pages are in a very nice clean condition.

These stamps are interesting historical artifacts of another place and time, which is exactly why I like collecting stamps. I have most of these stamps in my collection and so do most other collectors. In other words, they are very common and inexpensive. Stamps such as these can usually be bought in packets for around 1 to 3 cents (US$) each. They may well have sentimental value for you and they are certainly interesting to look at, but they have very little monetary value. |

Hello all,
Hang on a minute here ! I've seen this happen before, to me for instance else where with my large lot ;)......Before I joined in here. No one can spot any of the possible errors or variations stamps in these scans & going smaller instead of bigger & more detailed in the scans is a mistake. I found a stamp that is posted on the forum worth $600 plus AU a while ago that people have missed for 40 years & you would never spot it in scans like this. Some of your China/Chinese stamps if they are not reprints are worth money & very collectiable, & there's probably others hidden in these sheets too. It's all in the fine detail to find the value. Don't just sell these, check each one carefully & take your time, you never know what you'll find on your learning path ahead ;)
Good luck.....Jad |

thanks jad for your encouragement. I would never sell them just like that. As someone else wrote earlier on, they are a very nice picture of the past. I will go on posting them here, with better quality... |
