Republic of Nauru got a coat of arms in 1968 following the declaration of independence, and it began to be used officially in the early 1970s. Its shield is divided and separated in the middle. In the upper section the alchemical symbol of phosphorus is shown over a golden woven background.
The lower silver section depicts a black frigate bird, which sits on a perch over blue ocean waves. The lower right section is blue and contains a branch of calophyllum flowers. The shield is surrounded by images of tribal chief gear, which was worn to ceremonies - ropes from palm leaves, feathers of the frigate bird and shark teeth. The star centered above the shield is taken from the flag. The ribbon above it bears the name of the island in Micronesian Nauruan: Naoero.

The University of the West Indies is a public university system serving 18 English-speaking countries and territories in the Caribbean founded in 1948. All the countries issued identical stamps to commemorate the event. The lower value showed the coat of arms and the higher value Princess Alice, Chancellor of the University.

The coat of arms featured a shield divided into two with the main part showing an open book superimposed on blue and white wavy lines. The upper part of the shield is red and carries on it a yellow lion. The crest is a brown Pelican, a traditional symbol of piety". The arms are shown surrounded by what is technically known as "mantling", which includes the symbol of a helmet with the visor closed indicating that the arms have been granted to a corporation rather than an individual.

Here is an image of an imperforate stamp depicting the colonial-era coat of arms of the City of Manila, superimposed on a United States flag shield, engraved and printed by the U.S. Bureau of Engraving and Printing, and issued for use in Philippines (then a U.S. possession) in 1931, Scott No. 351. Note: The "sea-lion" originally represented the Philippines' former colonial status as an ultramar (overseas) possession of Spain, and the city's coat of arms was ultimately derived from the arms of the Spanish Kingdom of Castile and León, shown below.

The coat of arms of Colombia contains a shield with several symbols, including a pomegranate, two cornucopias, a Phrygian cap, and the Isthmus of Panama. Perched on top of the shield is an Andean condor holding an olive crown and the condor symbolizing freedom. The national motto, Libertad y Orden ("Liberty and Order"), is on a scroll in between the bird and the shield in black font over golden background. Here is an image of an airmail stamp depicting a flying condor carrying Colombia's coat of arms, and a rising sun, printed by lithography, and issued by Colombia on April 23, 1954, Scott No. C254, plus a full color image of Colombia's coat of arms.
