The stamp depicts Olduvai Gorge anthropology site and a fossilized skull of Paranthropus boisei (originally named as Zinjanthropus boisei).

Very interesting thread. The very talented artists who left their work in the caves in Europe (Lascaux, e.g.) deserve more philatelic attention.

Chad 1966 Archaeological Excavation
The stamp shows a fossilized skull of Tchadanthropus uxoris, the first early hominid found in central Africa.

Zambia 1973 Fossils
Set of five, one stamp shows Kabwe 1, a fossilized skull of Homo heidelbergensis discovered in the lead and zinc mine of Broken Hill, Kabwe.
