Tanzania 1965 Country Motifs
The stamp depicts Olduvai Gorge anthropology site and a fossilized skull of Paranthropus boisei (originally named as Zinjanthropus boisei).

Very interesting thread. The very talented artists who left their work in the caves in Europe (Lascaux, e.g.) deserve more philatelic attention.

Many thanks, KuoLC5310, for starting this thread and sharing great stamps. The origin of man and early life subject is a part of my monkeys on stamps collection and I will share a little from it.

Dryopithecus africanus, known as Proconsul, issued by Kenya-Uganda-Tanzania on May 2, 1967:

Here is the stamp on FDC with the complete set "East African archaeological relics". The cover signed by Louis and Mary Leakey, Kenyan paleoanthropologists discovered the Proconsul skull:

Robert Broom (1866-1951), South African paleontologist, holding a skull of Australopithecus africanus, called Mrs. Ples, he founded in 1947 in Sterkfontein, South Africa. The stamp was issued by SA on October 9, 1991:

The stamp depicts a fossilized archaic human skull (ca. 620,000 to 350,000 years old) found in the Petralona Cave on the Chalkidiki peninsula.
