Hi all I have found a King George V Australian 5d brown with 3d in the left hand corner has anyone seen this before and any idea what it might be worth. I am new to this and certainly no expert so any help would be most welcome thanks kev.

I've never seen that before. The 5pence was brown and the 3pence was ultramarine (blue). Maybe it's an error.

I have found, since I posted my reply to you, a similar example to the one you are describing. The stamp I have is a New Zealand stamp of Prince Charles and has a 2 on the left and a 1 on the right. I found out this is a semi-postal where the value is given often as 2 + 1.

However, when I check the catalog, I do not see any semi-postals in Australia, so again that doesn't help.

Kevin you are in luck. There is a forum devoted to Australia. A new and eager grouping with their own special knowledge. Try it. They will love a scan.

Didn't Australia release Health stamps every year, with two values - the postal rate and the extra charge for fund-raising?
