That $1500-$2000 number assumes he gets his material for free and does not have any staff. Assuming no staff, he would need at least double that in sales volume (assuming he sells for double what he pays for an item) to break even. He probably needs closer to $10k a month in sales to be able to justify the store.

I didn't read the article, but I know he has done some stamp shows, and he is not some small time collector who decided to become a dealer - he has had some big collections (we're talking 7 figures).
