nadams3, welcome to the forum. One of the best things you can do is post a high definition scan of your stamp on this forum. We have specialists in almost any topic you can think of!

Peter4522 it's not something you will find on Google . Nadams you need a specialist with your stamps on hand, so a certification, this stamps as 4 types of paper, 2 different watermark, and the overprint come in 4 different shades and it as to be measure with precision

The Scott catalogue is useless to ID this stamps

Even if I have the Chile 2006 Filatelia Chilena Catalogo Especializado, I will not feel confident unless I have certified specimens to compare too

You are correct, floortrader. You are one of the specialists I was referring to. Which leads me back to the original request of a scan of the stamp.

First ----lets make everybody understand what is being discussed . The question is if this type of overprint has been forged and if his is a fake .

We would need a large clear picture here of his stamp, then we could judge it to a group of the same overprint to determine if it is fake or it needs a expert to review it .

thanks to all responses. being new to collectors forum, I wasn't sure how to reply etc. I appreciate the illustration it is very helpful. a past note in linns said the measurements of the Original 28mm top to bottom and forgery measured 29mm the orignial left to right is 14 mm and 15 mm on forgery. these measurments don't seem to fit overprint or stamp in any way I measure the stamps I have. thanks again nadams

I would like to make clear ,anytime I talk about forgeries and this is important . That many forgeries have more than one creator ,so different types may be out there. A lot of people think in terms of only one type of fake and the truth is that in the study of fakes you find different forgers making counterfeits. So any book or article may not beware of other copies floating around ,so a clear description of the original is always helpful .
