Hi Mike,
There are 'Next' and 'Previous' buttons for both the 'Year' and 'Description' searches; but you are correct that the catalog number search does not have these. I originally worked on adding this but the .ASP code was kicking my butt so I moved on. I'll revisit this in the next few days and see if I can strong arm it to work.

In the last few days I have added a few other things. You can click on the thumbnail image and it will display a higher resolution image. And if you click on the watermark it will display the watermark for that stamp (for those which have one).

And for our northern neighbors, there is now a Canadian tool too.

Don,
I have stamp images 1897 - 1971 in basic Scott Order
(William Steiner Pages)
Obviously missing the expensive issues, and, in page format.

If you can / care / able to separate the issues by software
you can always email me your missing issues,
and I'll try and link a page for you.

Thanks Rod, there are currently several folks contributing images at the moment. If your offer is still good in a week or two I may contact you for a link. I just don't want anyone to be doing duplicate work.
Thanks
Don

Thank you, Don. Love your website. I routinely check your listings for sellers before every purchase. Over time, I've learned to avoid certain sellers. Especially those with over 100 individual call-outs for supposed errors.

Don,

Thank you for that quick response. I obviously didn't play around enough. Some additional comments...

I find the NEXT/PREVIOUS on most pages, but not on ...

Special Delivery/Find by Year,
Duck Stamps/Find by Year,
Officials/Find by year.

Can you make your display window a little larger? When you zoom some wide stamps, they do not fit. Air mail for C7, C13-C15 are an example.

When you zoom a stamp that is not there, see Airmail C3a, you get a 404 error.

Also, what am I missing after I zoom, how to I "unzoom" to get back to where I started stepping through the stamps.

Thanks,
Mike

Hi Mike,
Thank you for the feedback. The over-sized stamps are been fixed and I added the missing C3a image.

The 'next/previous' buttons only appear when there is more than a single stamp in a particular year. If there was only one stamp for 1918, then there is no 'next' to go to for that year.

If you want to page through all the stamps with the Next/Previous buttons; go to the Regular Issue, then go to Search by Description, and enter a % sign in the search box (% = wildcard for 'everything'). There are over 8000 stamps so you will have to do a lot of clicking to go through them all! A nice thing about the Description search is that you can find more refined searches; i.e. every US Christmas stamp or every Franklin stamp.

After zooming, simply click on your browsers 'back ' button to return to the previous screen.

Don,

Thanks again. There's always a simple solution, and I was overthinking it.

Back in my programming days we used to say "The reason its so hard to make the software foolproof is that fools are so clever!"

Another feedback. I'm experiencing an interesting phenomenon when using the Pop-Up tool. I use a HP laptop (17") running Win 7 Home / Chrome with two external monitors.

On the laptop itself (display set to 1600 x 900), with Chrome set at full screen mode and 100% magnification, I have part of the bottom of your window truncated as shown in the image below; I'm missing the screen location with the [PREVIOUS] / [NEXT] buttons. This is part of what confused me earlier, and apparently why I did not always see the buttons.

On my 24" monitor (display set 1920 x 1080), I see the full Pop-up window, and all is cool.

It appears that you may determine the vertical size of your PopUp window dynamically based on screen resolution? In this case, it looks like you have elected to not use all of the screen but left some space at the bottom. Since I can't scroll on the Pop-Up window to see the bottom, I don't view everything, and especially the [PREVIOUS] / [NEXT] buttons. And no way to get the buttons other than to drag the Chrome Tab to the large 24" monitor, which is not my usual location.

My third monitor (1360 x 768) is a older low resolution one and have an even worst case display. I would not expect to see the window fully here, but don't understand the dynamics of not seeing it on the laptop screen and find it odd no one else seems to have this issue.

Am I missing something? Could the display window be modified so that the user could scroll up and down if necessary. Thoughts?

This may actually be a "feature" rather than a problem.

Thanks for listening,

Mike

Just tried it ... wonderful tool. I'm sure I'll find something to comment/fix later, but until then, keep up the good work!

Hi Mike,
Thanks for the additional feedback. As a single developer, I do not have the bandwidth to test every behavior and permutation on every browser version so the feedback serves a very useful purpose. Yes, the pop-up window will dynamically size itself if the browser window or screen resolution is small. But this was a case of different browsers running the code differently when the pop-up window initially opens. Internet Explorer displays the scroll bar but Chrome does not. (Grrrrrr, I hate it when the same code runs differently on different browsers.)

But after chasing it for a while I have found a way to force the scroll bars no matter what browser is being used, this new code has now been implemented. The pop-up window will now display a scroll bar for you under Chrome. Note: you will probably have to force the browser to 'refresh' to pick up the code modification and see the behavior change. As you may know, browsers 'cache' webpage code for performance reasons (so it does not have to run out and download the code every time you visit the page throughout the day.) So when a code change is made your browser may not pick up the new code for a day or two or until you force a 'refresh' (with page open use the F5 key to force a refresh).

Sorry for the inconvenience, if you uncover any other issues please let me know.

Partime,
Thanks, looking forward to any feedback that you may be able to provide.

Don,

Just checked out your latest update on the Pop-Up tool, and the scroll bar is there for me, and performs as expected. I thought it might be a browser issue -- I see them all the time using Chrome -- but was lazy and did not check.

Thank you. You do a marvelous job.

The US Pop-Up Tool has been updated to include plate numbers for each stamp as shown below.

The database now contains 55,000 plate numbers including commemoratives, definitives, airmail, special delivery, postage due, Revenues, Parcel Post, Offices in China, and Official stamps 1847 through 2010.
Still have some more data entry to do with the revenues plate number but I think I have them done through R220. I also ma missing some images. Targeting this stuff to be finished in the next couple of weeks.

Whew....after two years of data entry/work, we have finally completed entering 57,000+ plate numbers for over 9000 different Scott numbers. The US database now includes all commemoratives, definitive's, airmail, special delivery, postage due, revenues, Parcel Post, Offices in China, and Official stamps 1847 through 2015.

The only stamps that have not been covered are the 'deep' back of the book stamps. I also have a few missing images that I will be addressing over the next few weeks.

A big thank you to Bobplates, my wife, and a few others; without their help this effort would not now be freely available for everyone to user and enjoy.

If anyone spots any omissions, errors, or potential improvements please let me know.
