late use of the "oblitérations du jour de l'an" (New years cancellations, 1877-1924)
On a 15c Sower it was late usage; given the circle number cancel was used for postcard (5c) mailing the most often on the earlier issues type Sage & Blanc.
These cancels were used in Paris with numbers 1-120.Exist also in Roman numerals in the circle for the main district post-office's.

The same image as those in the lower row of your first Cinderella picture was also used for a charity postage stamp - Yvert 465 of 1940.

It appears in this thread

Rod - thank you. I need to carry into the post-war period, when I find the energy. Wondering if your last Cinderella could be Swiss?

Hi Geoff,

Could be, this material can be hard to classify, I stand corrected on any errors.
I jotted "Swiss?" on my album page.

Finally biting the bullet on the Cameo Sowers, which have been multiplying in my "to do" envelopes. (ignoring the vast amount of "shades")
...and mounting my precancels using your pages as a guide.

Rod - types of the Sage 5c green and yellow-green. Maury has an unfortunate typo in the title of the first pic, substituting "Type II" for "Type 1" -

Cheers Geoff,
France is on the back burner right now.

I received 1000 free Spain stamps from member RK, have just finished scanning the 1000, and cataloguing them all, took a full day.
Back to France next week.

Rod,
Bravo for this superb display.

Your first page (1960) shows (top row, right hand stamp) "reaper" design from 1959 (Maury 1115A) with currency in old francs "10F", whereas 1960 introduced the new franc with the correct stamp (Maury 1231) having "o10" as face value.

A beautiful range of sheets, nonetheless, from a country with excellent topics and production techniques. I have "re-discovered" France from my old schoolboy collection and I have found numerous errors of identification in my album due to the small changes in some designs. Investing in a Maury catalogue has helped a lot!

Rod,
the centre stamp on the bottom row of 1973, exists in two versions, the main obvious difference being the colour of "Republique Francaise".

There is a brownish-green and an ochre-orange, according to my Maury, both are common. SG does not list this variation.

Outremer,
thanks for your kind words.
..and the advice, I'll check through my duplicates.
If I had spotted that, would have assumed just an ink changeling.
