Am I the only ebay user on here who's noticed that the geniuses at ebay now have changed the nomenclature for Stamp Album and supplies to "postal' Albums and supplies? http://www.ebay.com/sch/Postal-Stam...03744/i.htmlNo it's not big deal in the scheme of things, but it sure looks jarring to collectors who know better. It makes the ebay staff look like dullards. I've emailed ebay on this some weeks ago with no reply. It makes ebay look as if they don't know any better. Possibly they do not.

Maybe it was their own way to sort for "non-postal" albums when doing quick searches.

I really do not believe ebay has anything to do with what the postal folks call their wares. If you like to see a change you should write the Post Office! Peter |

Peter, probably I am not understanding your reply, or maybe I was not clear about my issue with my original post. I have collected over forty years. I have never until seeing this page on ebay seen Stamp albums, literature, etc titled as 'Postal' . The usual term is just 'stamp album', etc. My issue has nothing at all to do with what postal people do. |

Apparently, no one is left in ebay category management who speaks English as their first language. |

Just went onto ebay, typed KGVI and I was offered categories on the left-hand side - top one being "Postal" stamps. Maybe they are in the process of changing the description across the site. (Don't know why.) |

Maybe they received a few complaints from overseas customers who don't speak the "American" English we do . So a supervisor who doesn't know stamp collecting made the decision to correct it. |

I would assume that the use of "postal stamps" is to prevent confusion with the "stamps" subcategory under crafts. Not the way I would have renamed the category but it makes sense to distinguish philatelic stamps vs. rubber stamps. |

I remember someone showing up at one of our local shows, having seen the "Stamp Show" sandwich board signs out on the street, being quite disappointed that it was not a rubber stamp show. But still, not everything sold under the "Postal Stamp" category are actually postal stamps. Revenues and other cinderellas are also here. |

"Postage" would make much more sense! I was surprised at the number of rubber stamps that were returned on my first ebay search! |

ebay is not interested in what we think or do. The only way to change ebay is to stop using ebay as a community, that's not going to happen. |
