This stamp is imperforate with no glue, so I suspect it may have been cut off of a pre-stamped envelope. I'm hoping that someone that specializes in Great Britain can help me identify it and assess some sort of value to it, even if it's a 25 cent value. Thanks for any help anyone can give me!

Hi,
Yes, this has been cut out from a British air letter / aerogramme.
There were a number of similar aerogrammes which used this stamp.
The slogan postmark publicises the 1952 British Industries Fair.
There's very little interest in the UK these days in cut-outs from postal stationery so it has no real value and I'm not aware of any catalogues or price lists that include them.

Thank you Nigelc and Rod222 for your assistance! Is there any sort of catalogue # associated with this stamp, which I must assume has a minimal value based on your comment, Nigelc? I'd like to get a number for my spreadsheet if possibe. |

Oops! Nigelc, your comment " I'm not aware of any catalogues or price lists that include them" obviously didn't register with me the first time around. Just disregard my last post! Dot |

The complete air letters are listed and priced in the catalogue "Collect British Postal Stationery" by Alan Huggins and Colin Baker. |

Thank you Rod, Nigel and Ringo for your responses. Nigel, since this is the only airletter stamp I have in my collection (that I'm aware of at this time - I still have about 7 large glassine envelopes to sort and identify), and it has minimal value, I really don't want to buy a book that I can't afford to identify it. Rod, your link was extremely helpful and I downloaded it to my computer in case I run across any more of these puppies, so thank you for that. And Ringo, that was a very interesting thread, and I actually saw a stamp on the last page that is similar to mine except for the denomination. Altogether, I think I have the data I need to identify this stamp and move on. So, thanks so much for your help! Dot |
