Icky 20th century material is normally too modern for my tastes

, but I do make exceptions from time to time. For some reason, I particulately like the consular service fee stamps (Scott RK prefix). I recall seeing examples on my grandparents' passports from the 1920s.
There is a particular
ebay seller that has been selling mixed lots of these stamps off and on for the past several years. Usually nice variety and good value, with occasionally some mid- to better values. They usually sell very quickly. Condition is hit or miss, which isn't uncommon, as they were (1) usually off-center to varying degrees, (2) torn or trimmed in hurried use, and (3) frequently pounded by embossed seals.
For example, he occasionally will have examples of RK40 (SCV $210) for sale in the $10-20 range. I've seen examples that he has sold turn up in Eric Jackson's inventory at much higher prices.
I've purchased a few lots over the years. Last month, the following lot turned up for $9.00... I couldn't hit the Buy It Now button fast enough.

A few RK27/RK34, RK31/RK38 (even if both are the cheaper type, these alone make the lot worthwhile) and others.
No, the stamp that drew my attention is the second from the right on the bottom row, RK26, which is the second highest value stamp in the entire RK series, at $525.00.
Upon arrival, it turns out to be in lovely condition as well, unlike some of the other stamps in the lot.
