This group has a nice looking web site. Probably is some issue with me, but none of the links on it work for me. I have no way of getting a contact email address. I'm looking to ask about purchase of some back issues of their publication. http://scc-online.org/#Anyone out there who is a member and can supply a contact address? *** Moved by Staff to a more appropriate forum. ***

Links don't work for me either, but if you right click on one of the list of officers, and open link in new tab, an email appears. |

Yes, it's odd that I can't find anywhere that says "please join us, it costs blah € a year and you need to email so-and-so", which is a pity as The Posthorn has a good reputation as a resource for advanced collectors. My Samsung gives an email on rhe "Contact Us" section and I may get in touch as I collect both Norway and Iceland. |

rod222, the membership brochure you linked to doesn't have an email address that I can see. It's very strange, as if they really don't want anyone contacting them. I did right click on the secretary's name and got an email so asked him.
If memory serves, the SCC went through some sort of upheaval couple years back, deposed their president and - I think- editor. Their site used to be very interactive. It's sort of unintuitive now. |

Right. my intention, was perhaps you may write to them, as a last resort.
Links often do not offer email contact, From your comments, it sounds like the direction of the current club is in limbo. Good Luck.

All of the links worked for me; at least the several I tested. SCC is not in limbo. They have monthly meetings scheduled on Saturday, Sept. 3 (now past) and Saturday, Oct. 1. Both meetings were/are at the Rocky Mountain Philatelic Library in Denver. I found numerous working e-mail links for all the officers and other key positions; look under About SCC on top of the home page. Steve Lund is the current president and executive secretary ( steve88h@aol.com ).
Stamps1962's original question was in regard to purchasing some back issues of the Posthorn. I observed that the positions of Posthorn editor and Posthorn business manager are currently vacant. Publicity Chair also is currently vacant.
Hope this helps. Steve |

All of which lends credence to the idea that there is some severe dysfunction in the society. Think I may just try to find what I need elsewhere. Thanks for the input. |

Stamps: certainly your choice. I'll point out that a few vacancies in a small non-profit don't necessarily translate into "severe dysfunction." With the SCC, 24 of 29 available positions are presently filled. Three specialist societies I belong to each have vacancies in their list of volunteer directors, committee chairs, program specialists. Yet all three are fully functional. Best, Steve |

Well perhaps I could have worded it more gracefully; something just seems amiss a bit with that group but maybe not more so than many others.
I did get a reply from the secretary which was appreciated. He sent me a link to an ad for a DVD with all the issues on it. Problem was, it was for "Polar Cap News'. Probably another group he does secretarial duties for, that is not uncommon. We'll see how this goes. |

Not that it's so relevant to this question about getting back copies of the SCC's journal, but I was a member for many years and it was a good group with a very good journal. I left simply because I was so very busy I could barely read the journal and my collection was on hold. I had not heard about any 'upheaval' in the society, but all stamp societies are small groups and are generally run by a very few of the most active members. So they sort of ebb and flow as older active members sometimes give way to less involved members.
If they still exist, and apparently they do, I'm sure they'd want you as a member -- and most likely be happy to sell you any back issues they have for sale whether you join or not. Don't give up trying to contact them. Someone out there will be happy you contacted them. |
