Scott # Desperatly Needed

Can some please find me the scott # to these stamps please I cant find them on mine THANKS

I don't know the numbers offhand, but they are located almost at the very end of the East Germany section, as they are "back of book" stamps.

So here is one instance of Scott catalogue being overpriced when compared to Gibbons.
The 20pf value is a mere 60p in SG catalogue !! {with or without control figures].

I was looking in scott catalog yesterday and couldnt find it is it in the Germany section?

This listing is on the next to last page of the German Democratic Republic.
O33 O3 10pf....colors.....then...values mint & used

The first O number means Official (#O33)....O3 is the pattern identifier........10pf is the face value (what is printed on the stamp)

tina, make sure you looked in the German Democratic Republic (DDR) and not in Germany. They were two different countries. DDR is what was commonly called East Germany prior to its being reunited with West Germany. The DDR is no longer a separate country.

Oh Londonbus you keep me laughing,such personality you have.When I first joined this forum,I had NO CLUE how much there was to collecting stamps I have learned soooo much from a few of you guys,and I want to thank all of the ones who have helped me learn all this stuff,now I wish I would have payed more attention in history.I just learned that Romania and Post Ramana are the same country,talk about feeling and looking like an idiot but I didnt know.Just like this DDR im all lost now

I assumed you were familiar with the layout of Scott Catalogues.

In addition to what Tom said, the values are in US Dollars -- the first column for mint, the right for used. Also, there are two underlying assumptions for the entire system -- the values are for stamps in Fine-Very Fine condition and second, the values are based on dealers (and therefore include some overhead for business). Prices between two collectors may be (usually are) less. Nevertheless, as you've seen, everyone always quotes "catalogue value" when discussing stamps.

Lastly, I'll add that Londonbus mentions the SG catalog -- at the current exchange rate, 60 pence is about 1 US dollar so the catalogs are closer than they appear at first glance.

if I was given the country name and which catalog to look in I could find things better.As we can all see by this conversation is that Tina doesnt know her history or what country is what BUT I'm learning,and its all thanks to you fella's.I can see why they consider it an educational hobby.So please everybody bare with me as I learn.The whole country take over and CCCP,and Czechoslovakia turned into slovakia or all that,shoot had no clue Bulgaria and Austria were the same but thank you for letting me know when you can see I must be confused this is how im learning

One of the neat things I like about stamp collecting is learning all kinds of wierd facts.
When an occasion comes up where some trivia knowledge is needed, (as in the game of trivial pursuit, but also sometimes in general conversation) and if I hapen to know the answer due to my stamp collecting - I speak up with the answer, and then get this silly smirk on my face cuz I know I knew the answer from stamp collecting. But I don't mention that part, I just listen to them say "how in the world did you know that, Dave?"
