First day, nice and busy if a bit hot in the venue. They need better AC!

No wonder half the ebay UK sellers are away until 19th they are all at stampex:) Send some pics of dealer tables please I'd like to see the layouts of their goodies on sale especially for postal history as never seen this stamp show in action before. Thanks for sharing the pic |

Geoff, it's an exhibition centre in Islington currently called the Business Design Centre. The fabric is Victorian, however, and it dates from 1862 when it came into being as the Royal Agricultural Hall. However, it's kitted out as a good venue (apart from being unable to cope with very un-British temperatures of 30° ha ha). |

Thanks very much Tim, I'd like to see especially QV stamps on covers penny reds penny blacks there maybe a few dealers I know there. Also old letters, transatlantic mail displays etc as have never seen their tables before. To bad we don't have many shows like this in Australia. |

After your e-mail, I'd intended to go along, but I've succumbed to inertia and backache. I've also just blown much too much money on a set if Yvert albums. I can imagine that the design of the hall would create a greenhouse feel in our week of warm weather! |

To tempting if going along to the show to buy buy & buy again. If I were there at the hall I think I could not control my spending with so much nice stuff on offer all in one place. Geoff for your back ache try get a medical patch called salonpass, those patches work wonders, or hot patches from a Chinese health shop. |

Duncan, most of the stuff you'd be interested in was in stock albums or racks, very difficult to take photos of, especially as I wasn't buying it! I'm not sure if you'll find the attached of any use. I went waaaay over my spending limit with some nice Estonia covers, maybe I'll upload some in the coming months once they're researched and written up. It was like a tropical hothouse in there this morning. It's going to be truly horrendous this afternoon as the temperature is over 29 deg with a cloudless sky... |

Thanks Tim for taking those pics, thats very interesting to see. I think you would need several days to go through everything on display or in albums there. I'm sure its easy to go over ones spending limit. Those dealers with tables there must make a fortune. 29 degrees sure is warm but with a tin roof its probably more like 40 degrees inside? |

British summer at its best: 3 hot days and a thunderstorm. The temperature has dropped 10 degrees, and I hope that the roof doesn't leak in the rain which has fallen torrentially all night. |

Maybe stamp collecting isn't quite dead yet. It looks like there is a younger "crowd" than what we see here in the States.
