Mutilated Stationery.
Post Offices in the Turkish Empire.
Backstamped Constanta.

Sundry stamps yet to be mounted, and still showing my Stanley Gibbons references.

As you may see, these are all forgeries.
Forgery ID:
The 2nd "T" in Constantinopol, has a gap between horizontal and vertical stroke.

Forgeries. (On 2 papers, thick and thin)

That's a very nice Romanian P.O.s piece Rod!

Good to have the Constanta arrival marking to complete the story.

Have you seen this link?

http://www.romaniastamps.com/sc/con...earticle.htm

It's fun to read about the shenanigans when the Austrian P.O had the Turks put an end to the Romanian postal service in 1896.

Hello Nigel.

Yes indeed The very piece I used to quote my Forgery details.
Fabulous knowledge.

Fascinating reading, shenanigans indeed.
It must have been powerfully irritating for those inside, looking out.
All these foreign powers pinching your postal business.

Now makes for shenanigans, in the collecting focus.

Currently working on the "President Inonu" set Scott 1942-1945
Gratitude to Michael for the Isfila Info.

Theoretically, there should be 56 stamps in the set, if we combine the two Catalogues Scott and Isfila

Thin Paper 1942-1945 (21 stamps) Perf 11˝ Isfila (Scott 11˝ x 11, and Perf 11)
Thick paper 1944-1945 (Post war frugality?) Isfila (7 stamps)

Isfila does not show Perf 11

To measure "Thick and Thin" I'll finally have to purchase a Micrometer

I'll post result of Perfs and thicknesses, in due course.

Basic set all mixed

I used one of those 'miccrometers' daily-careful if you spin the little thimble you will probably get an indent on the stamp you don't want--just saying

Very wise advice 91 Stang.

I served my apprenticeship as an engineer, and used one for 5 years between the ages of 15 and 20. So I am at ease with use.

Left the oily rags and havn't touched one for eons.
I look forward to a re introduction.

As I recall, one just "caresses" the knurled knob at the end of the spindle
betwixt thumb and finger, as light as if one was feeling a cigarette paper, or gold foil.

I'll need one to rate in 1,000th of an inch.

Possibly newspaper wrappers. Mentioned in Wikipedia, but not illustrated. Your image and the ones listed below are a bit blurry, but look similar. Check out the citation at the bottom of the item for further info.

Thanks Girls and Boys, Awesome.
Is there no question without an answer?

We have it soooo easy these days.

I'll ask on another thread, but here also...

Scanner:
Does anyone have a scanner that will take a Minkus Page? (comfortably)
Commentary & ideas welcomed.

PS: I paid going rate according to 22crows link.
I paid $2.48 for the brace of wrappers today.
