Hmmmm.....

Font looked right to me, until I saw it side-by-side with the one Rod posted!

Clearly looks like a partial 'Sivas' overprint - but may be a test run for someone who made their own 'overprint' stamp to use?!

That's what passed my mind.....am I cynical?

I may be talking to myself here, but, coincidentally, having mentioned Pamuk's book about Istanbul a few days ago, I watched a piece about him on BBC1's Imagine series on Saturday, which complements the book rather well. Available on the BBC iPlayer for those in the UK.

I'm not sure which programmes the BBC World site makes available to overseas viewers.

ROD ---Just to let you know I just won at auction a comprehensive BULLHEADS collection of Turkey . I should receive them tomorrow . The first thing I want to do is sort out any fakes and then mount them on Steiner pages . I chose the lot of BULLHEADS over many other items that were in the auction of Turkey lots only because I never seen them come up as a separate lot in a major auction . I seen the Sultan's visit to Macedonia overprints come up a few times and other better Turkey items but never the BULLHEADS ,so I reached out and fought for them .

I hope to display them here in a week or two .

That's par for the course FT, Michael (mdroth) corrected me, when I screwed up the very same stamp.
Scott is a bit curly in their ID of some of the opts.

Wow! good luck for "Oxheads" (as I refer to them)
Very hard to get indeed.

I passed on numerous pages from my dealer, about 4 years ago, I wasn't sufficiently aware of those pages at the time.
I thought "Oh, I'll get to them later".........Hmmm, bad choice.

Look forward to seeing them, takes time to really get in order.
Happy to buy any duplicates you may have.
