Very nice. I came a little late to Philately, to understand the finer details of Turkish postal history. For me, looking at that cover, is like looking upon the Rosetta Stone.
Your next route? translate the script?

ROD ---How are you doing with the Official stamps ,I am talking about the cheap 1963 to 2003 issues, the colorful tiny stamps ,I just got a huge group of them and if you post your pages I can pull the ones you need if I got them and mail them free to you if you want . |

Quote: ROD ---How are you doing with the Official stamps FT, Very generous of you............... I have them just about nailed............ I'll dig out my Albums, and post the pages that have gaps. (I have posted most completed pages through the thread [but scattered]) Here are the pages of Officials I have, but need to confirm, they may have been updated.......... |

PS: I placed 2 completed pages of officials on ebay, covering about 5 years, took 2 months to get a bite, sold for $4 :( Very hard to move, or not many Turkey collectors in Oz. Albeit, Stamped covers go for King's ransoms. Also, if you want / need early Officials, I have squillions of duplicates. |

My Stamp budget tin, has eclipsed $200 ready to buy stamps. I have now lost the last 28 bids on Turkish stamps, so the money at bank grows. Anyone whom suggests Philately is dying, I will strongly disagree. Prices appear to have gone nuts........ Here is a Turkish revenue, 1885 described as "rare" Agreed rarely seen, however it comes as a tryptych, the other two stamps are missing, I bid $5 and was prepared to go to $8. It was knocked down at $37 plus ship $1 Whoa! (MacDonald suggests $40 / Euro40 ? for the 3) Petitions revenue |

Nice stamp Rod!
McDonald's prices are in US dollars from 1998.
Revenue stamps of all countries are becoming more collectable again and it will be interesting to see how this develops further now that we have more and more catalogues and useful web sites like this one. |
