But even after twenty years $37 still seems pricey to me given the condition of this one.

McDonald's prices are in US dollars from 1998.

Right, thanks Nigel.
I agree with your suggestions, (and it is to you, I owe thanks for direction to McDonald catalogue)

I also have to take into consideration, as a pensioner, my income is a quarter of the current average wage in Australia.
$37 to someone earning $1,000 a week, is a differing kettle of fish. I have to be fiscally prudent with my purchases.

I totally agree Rod.

I limit myself now just to occasional small mixed lots and I still get lots of fun from these.

I also have a big box of things "to sort out some day" which I dip into from time to time and that keeps me amused!

One consideration that is working for me instead of buying modern Turkey stamps is to buy First Day Covers in bulk and soak the complete sets off them .Those that are duplicates are a easy sell to get your money back or cover part of the cost .

Hello perf12,

That's a nice card but I'd be surprised if Andreas Birken has listed commercial picture postcards although I'm sure Jerusalem would be a very popular subject.

Perf 12,
as Nigel suggested, not listed, however your second Postcard correlates in format design, and is Birken #17 1892-1898 Arms impression, shades of Claret and known on thin card. Often seen cut randomly as your image indicates.

I do not understand CTO? It looks genuine postally used to me.

Birken #17

Dear Rod, thanks very much for this challenge. The latest resource is the vast collection of Emir Eray Suleimaniye, which he published in a large volume in 2012. This Izmir municipal stamp is not in that volume either. As the Turkish resource said, the identity of the stamp is clearly inscribed on it, so we'll just have to keep it as one of the innumerable Ottoman revenue stamps, the full extent of which no one has yet mastered. I may exhibit it in the next issue.
Thanks again. rr

Well the 25pi bistre next to it is also very nice - but it is that Eastern Rumelia #14 next to that which makes this lot nice...

63 - even in Aussie money - seems pricey...

Right. Missed that. (Update SOLD $90)
That's still $55 catalogue, at 25% makes it worth $15-$20 in my books.
Still makes my collection valuable if I can get the same buyers.

Others that sold today
$52

$43
