The small country of Benin in west Africa issued a Dove-Hand stamp for the Lions Convention in May 1996. (Bonus: 3 small hands in the background.) Aplahoue lies in the south-west of the country, right next to Togo.

(Hi Rod, The Peace Corps Doves are a nice example of metamorphosis! K.)

Hello Kris,
could be a nice Postmark, but I am always suspect, when I see the postmark ring
finish before the teeth ends, this often suggests the postmark was printed on the stamp.

Hi Rod, I know what you mean; I was glad to be able to rescue the Benins from an otherwise very damaged cover. In this one the basket/bowl can be seen more clearly. You can also see that the stamps weren't used until 1997. K.

Hi Rod, I also admire that minisheet with the Dove outline (you're lucky to have a used one, mine isn't). The tribute to Jean-Paul Riopelle (1923-2002) includes a set of 6 stamps featuring paintings, and these have more easily recognizable birds; in this one they seem to be Peace Doves. (the set was designed by S. Spazuk)

(By the way, see page 3 of the bats for some very special perforation! K.)

Malta celebrated its 10th anniversary as an independent country with these stamps and a Dove on the FDC whose wings resemble outstretched hands. (Note Maltese language, Malti, a branch of Arabic written in Latin script.)

World Food Day is celebrated every year on 16 October in honor of the date of the founding of the Food and Agriculture Organization of the UN in 1945. The day is celebrated by many other organisations concerned with food security, including the World Food Program and the International Fund for Agricultural Development. (from Wikip) The Syrian Arab Republic and France issued Peace Doves for the Freedom from Hunger campaign, 1963; note the logo of three ears of grain. (see also 'Hands, page 24)

The 1969 Polish Dove-Hand also shows ears of grain, a great combination! 5th Congress of the United Peasant Party.
