In general, are there a lot of unused/mint first issue revenues available. I am particularly interested in r27c, and I came across a seller with many (maybe 20) unused/mint copies of r27c. Is this unusual?

"Unused" documentary revenues were very probably on a document but never cancelled for some reason, and were later soaked off. This was not all that uncommon; personally I consider them less interesting and less valuable but others may think differently. R27c is a very common stamp, and mint examples certainly exist, possibly 100 or more (there is a mint block of 63 known).

To add to what revcollector said, I would never consider a first issue revenue mint or even unused merely because it wasn't cancelled. It would have to have sufficient original gum to convince me that it hadn't been used but not cancelled and then soaked off. I don't seek out mint or uncancelled revenues but sometimes they have "eye appeal" for me. Here is an R27 with no cancel. I paid $1 for it.

Yup.

Full OG = unused.
No gum = merely uncanceled, likely to have been soaked or steamed from documents.

Hi psyprofret, your interest in the R27c's, does your interest include plate varieties (all varieties)?

You can find sometimes nice double transfers on R27c's!
