Hi does anyone know which organization has the list of 643 Diana Stamps, I believe it was the ATA but cannot remember.
I am trying to find a organization which would have such a list as there is not one in the U.K?
Thanks if you know.
Julian

Why not ask them? They have a website where all of their lists are listed! http://americantopicalassn.org

Most auction descriptions tend to be skeletal, especially at the bottom end of the price range. They can probably give you more details if you e-mail them. I've always found them excellent to deal with. Buyer's premium and postage to take into account, of course!

Hi Geoff Do they use Royal Mail or Hermes, I have never worked a auction site on the net, I would have thought they want you to register and so forth?
If it was like ebay no problem. Yes of course and its usually around 15 %.
I will have to email them but I want to know further about what is actually within it and indeed if the folders are Diana ones because some people try to make them up in Royal Family folders which are not correct. But as you say the guide price is about right.
Do you live down that neck of the woods then?

They use Parcel Force next day delivery - assume around £14 for a lot like this. You'll need to register, but it's straightforward. Buyer's premium is 18% + VAT. Thus, on a £100 lot, you'll be paying around £135. Easy to forget the add-ons! I don't live near Warwick, unfortuunately, so I take a punt on items. Obviously, you need to be comfortable with the auction house, which I am in this case, because I've been buying from them for several years with few disappointments.

I might give it a wurl Geoff so on £50 it will be £12.50 on top. I am interested but never having done this before, I have been to live auctions its just not knowing the procedure, is it done through web cam and as if your in the room or is it just done on screen like ebay?
I suppose there is no harm in registering and seeing how things work without bidding if you see what I mean.
Its like being a virgin again.

I just thought and £14 post so your looking at 80 in total on a 50 bid, I might still watch it though just to see how much it goes for, not sure whats happening for the 5th Oct. Ha ha ha I might have to rely upon your auction skills to keep me informed.

These aren't live internet auctions, as far as I know - results are usually posted on the evening of the sale. I'll let you know what it goes for!

Hi Geoff, Registered and all the rest of it and asked certain questions about the lot and the answer come back is not very good. As for live actions and if they do not do live bidding then it all sounds a bit risky to me, I am not to sure I would participate. The thing that kills it is definitely not being able to view it and indeed not being there with the shipping cost. I think its one of those things really where you just have to say my loss someone elses gain. If it goes for the guide price someone has a good job but without knowing whats in it I cant say. My real problem is I can guarantee other than the folders 3/4 of that lot I would have to sell and ebay is tough these days with their cons in fees.
So weighing it up if I got it for 40 add the rest and I will be hard pushed to make a profit, now if I lived there that would be different and especially if there was specific sets I need for my collection which is few, I would go much higher. But somehow I cant see it going for less than £40. I would be amazed.

Good luck. Once you get later than the George VI silver wedding pairs, omnibus lots often go pretty cheap. W&W's estimates will probably be reasonably close on things like this. I've never had an issue with anything I've bought from them, and I've bought a lot of cigarette cards, postcards and stamps over the years. In fact, my sitting-room is now full of the largest ciggie card lot I've ever acquired from them!
