Went to an estate auction on Saturday and bought several boxes of vintage postcards. They were from the estate of an deceased antique dealer so I'm assuming these were part of his inventory. Have been going through the boxes and photographing my favorites. There seems to be a wide variety of subject matter, location, and era of the postcards.

I remembered that one of my local stamp clubs has an "Out of Africa" theme next week, so I've been pulling something together over a couple of generous glasses of decent malt whiskey (Dalwhinnie 15yo if you're wondering). The display is 9 sheets maximum and will be called "Grüße aus Deutsch-Ostafrika", based on postcards from that colony. There's plenty more research to do but I should get it finished in the next couple of days.

Received some freebies from mystic in the mail some North Korea, Cuba, some first day issue Christmas, and mint Disney stamps all a pretty good deal just had to pay for shipping. I ordered over the phone and requested that I just wanted the free offers and to please not send me anything else that I would have to pay for or send back, and they were happy to do so

I submitted my APS membership yesterday, and I am close enough that I will be able to take a day-road trip to their Library.

Today I received a C17 mint NH I bought on ebay for $1.00. Not quite VF but it fills a much neglected space in my quest to finish the U.S. air posts.

Work was shutdown yesterday due to snow. Used the time to finish adding recently purchased stamps to my US used collection.

I spent most of the weekend mounting stamps into my Straits Settlements / Malaysia collection. I had purchased some lots from ebay (stamps mostly on pages) years ago and finally got around to mounting them.

SAturday....Picked up stamps from Christmas mail, collected for me by friends. Some from Australia, Ireland, Poland, Czech Republic were useful for my collection. They have now been mounted and the rest have gone in the "charity box".
Today I booked my rail ticket for Dublin (new definitive issue on Thursday 12th January). And this morning, I picked up some Euros from my bank...spending money for Thursday.
Tonight I will be working out how many addressed envelopes I need to take with me. The issue is mostly eight "Stamps on A Roll" so can be produced in any value from 1cent upwards. I will save myself some money by using older stamps on the envelopes I send to myself....and just topping up the values to national rate (72cents) eg if I put an older 60 cents stamp on the envelope, I only need a 12 cents stamp for postage.

I am doing a lot of organizing this winter. Bought some shelving for my albums and some plastic boxes with different sized compartments for my showguard mounts.

I am working on two long term projects; transfer of my Russia collection from Scott pages into a set of 'Ruskystamps' pages I got myself for Christmas (am up to 1971 so far) and- transfer of my Great Britain from a set of Windsor albums into a set of pages I am downloading from a CD.

We're snowed in here, so I've been busy adding stamps and images to the database. I'm beginning to think I might need to pare things back a bit as I only collect one country - U.S. - but still have a room and half of stamps and books dealing with them. Just hit 45,500 stamps in the database...

Here's a few of the recent additions:

This I picked up from an APS circuit. It's not identified properly on the cert as you can see the vast difference in the color with the normal one I've also provided. I think this looks lake to me, but there's no listing for lake for this issue. Comments are always welcome!

I finally finished the displays I mentioned on 3rd January. There was more research than I had anticipated, and then my local Staples ran out of colour printer cartridges and I had to wait. I've decided to do "African Colonial Fore-runners" as well as "Gruße aus Deutsch Ostafrika", and I'll post them both in Friday (subject to any corrections and modifications after Thursday evening's session!)
