I applied for a job with a certain, rather famous, and very large stamp dealer. |

Would the initials of the stamp dealer be, oh, I don't know, "S.G."? |

I'm surprised, Tim, I'd expected your next career move to be into investment banking ... |

Tim, best wishes with the application. That's reassuring, if they re hiring staff it means they plan on being around a bit longer. |

I received some ebay lots and ended up returning one. My souvenir page collection is now pretty complete (buying large lots) to 2005. They are not worth much but satisfies my need for something first day with description related - no fan of FDCs. I need to create some more album pages (add ins to my Mytic) and finish making my 2016 US pages. |

Best of luck Tim! From what we've seen here, you'd be ideal for that job |

Over the weekend I finally got some of my Iceland sorted out. Both the Gullfoss and "Fish and flag" definitive issues have a number of perforation varieties, as well as re-entries and other plate flaws. It's specialist stuff, but interesting in its own little way. I'll post the pages some time soon. |

Tim - how did it work out on your application? I've been busy with transferring Japan into Vario sheets in Lighthouse Signum Classic Album. Happy with the result. Now my new setup includes lots of space for the various syllabic characters and several pages for the different perforation varieties for all the early issues, Koban, Chrysanthemum etc. So I've gone from an overloaded stockbook to lots of available space. Now I need an accumulation of classic Japan to find all the different perforations and get some more color on the pages. Next up is transferring various smaller J-countries. |

After a hiatus of several years, resumed work last night (Jan. 24) on re-organizing my Azores collection. Will work on Zambezia concurrently. Finally, have been analyzing the upcoming, next month, country lot sale at Rocky Mountain Philatelic Library. |

I attended the York (Pennsylvania) annual Stamp Show, both Friday and Saturday this past weekend. Reconnected with some of the dealers and parted with quite a bit of money (for me...) on a rudimentary stamped envelope collection (squares and entire envelopes) with a new Scott Specialty album to house them in. Also classic, but common, Norway and Spain to fill spaces. |

A small (general) Collectors Fair in a city about 25 miles from me. Was not really expecting much in the way of Stamps. Picked up some about 100 Vatican stamps for £2, four Ireland FDCs from the 1970s for £4 (this included two Definitive FDCs) and seven used Irish postcards from "The Golden Age" (1900-1920) for £5. The postcards from different villages in County Armagh and all sent to same address. Happy as this was my first adventure of 2017. And as an aside, it is odd that people under-value Definitive FDCs. My observation is that there are fewer Definitve FDCs than Commerative FDCs. |
