So as promised here is what I have come up with using the idea of info page opposite stamp page.

DJCMHOH (Gene) - I like it! Your Vario page is nicely presented by itself, and you have the information, from whatever catalogue you are using, opposite.

Very clean.

A concern, which you have already addressed, is the amount of work involved in setting up your information page. But, if you enjoy it, then it is part of the hobby.

Well, I was interviewed by SG for a senior position, it went well and I was all lined up for the second (clinching) interview next week. However, I had a major crisis on the train on the way home. Could I commute day in day out, week in week out, etc. into London? To be honest I don't think I could, so the dream job has to go by the wayside. Stamps will have to remain a hobby not a career. That's probably for the best!

Sorry to hear the SG position did not work out, we would have loved some inside information! Nothing to get anyone in trouble of course. I went to a show yesterday briefly, bought a 1947 edition of Big Blue Book 1 for cheap, some common pre-1900 European in it, and elderly British Colonials to get that collection off the ground at least.

Visited the National Postal Museum last week (Feb. 8) in D.C. for the first time. Mailed several postcards from the USPS station there to get the Museum postmark.

I spent a couple hours extracting info from stampworld.com to build my inventory file.

It was pretty easy to copy/paste into excel and it preserved most links. This a snippet from excel so cell structure not preserved into post.

Got my French Algeria page inserts finished. 37 total sides (19 pages) of Vario 6S pages for French Algeria up to the last issue of 1958. I have 321 of the 687 stamps (including varieties) for French Algeria, so not quite halfway complete (mainly the Parcel Post issues that I lack - harder to get in the USA since Scott does NOT list them, though they do list Mainland France Parcel Posts in the Classic Specialized, come on Scott, get Algeria's issues covered! ).

Now to start laying out the pages for the post-independence issues starting in 1962.

Visited Stampex today. There's a great display on Ottoman potal history but not a great deal of new material that I could see.

I now have an excel file with key stamp details for Strait Settlements, Malaya, Malaya states, etc. using data extracted from Stampworld. Now, I am adding cross references to Scott and SG as best I can.

I'm soaking good used Swiss stamps from old album pages that I bought, driying them and placing on my albums.

Soaking and drying 1980's Danish stamps from a charity shop where I help on stamp issues. Somewhat boring. But, it has to be done.

Used peroxide for the first time today. Removed oxidation from some 3 cent 1851-57 stamps. worked nicely.

Big Canadian lot I bought on ebay for less than $20.......found some nice oldies, used, to add to my collection with a valuation over $500.....not a bad lot ! after all. The rest will serve as duplicates - from 1937-1980ish..... I have enough to keep a newbie active for a few weeks !
