Yesterday started playing with this week's auction purchases. Five albums in two lots of British Africa, six stock-books of French colonies and three binders of French philatelic documents, with a third with booklets et al. The documents are around the level of FDCs in collectors' esteem, but I like them, and they're cheap. Then off to see Ron Carter at the London jazz Festival in the evening. A good day.

Congratulations Willwood42 on reaching 100,000. That is a major milestone.

Today I soaked off paper what felt like 1000 stamps but was probably only a couple hundred that I picked out of a box of kiloware. I wanted to finish the big box and get it out of the way before family visits next week.

As part of general house clean up for the holidays, I vacuumed and dusted everything in my stamp room in addition to a little rearranging. This involved taking all albums off bookshelves and doing a wipe. The dust slip cases work! There was a lot of dust.

I bought some stamps for postage, but saw some themes I'm probably going to end up keeping in my collection instead...

I recently acquired U.S. #1 and #2. They were on my bucket list. I've also moved my collection to a new location and added another shelving unit. Almost done with recount of different mounted stamps. I'm at around 99,000 now, but still have thousands more not mounted.

Looks more like a torture chamber! It needs a sofa, a table and a bottle of claret.

I recently decided to expand my collection beyond U.S. stamps and have begun a collection of Mexico. Over the past month or so I've been reading the fascinating story of Mexican philately and began designing album pages for the collection. Today I received a nice set of the 1914 Coat of Arms issue in the mail to go with the others I've accumulated through auctions and sales. With the recent discussion about album shelves that don't sag, I also began designing a built-in bookcase wall for my office. Will begin construction soon and will hopefully finish it during the winter.

Sifting through my EOY orders, preparing to catalog & place in album. Need to 'eyeball' the stamps provided in the USPS Annual Yearbook for trimmed perfs so I can replace with better item (usually booklet single design or certain coils. Good work for a 'bad weather day'.

(Late reply, since I haven't been on the forum lately.)

Also got my copy of the Artar Specialized Catalogue of Armenia direct from Yerevan. Has excellent illustrationsof the various types of overprints from 1918-1923 that the Big 4 catalogues just gloss over.

Very cool! I may have to buy a copy of that myself. Several years ago, I inherited my uncle's Armenia collection (which goes up to the year 2000, when his health started failing), but I haven't done anything with it.

I need to get another bookcase. I have doing a lot of reading of books (used purchased online) and now they are intruding on stamp space. It is time to take a trip to the "Restore" (thrift shop like place).
