Been focusing a little more on British Commonwealth of late, as much of the French area material I still need is out of my price bracket. Transferring stamps from an auction purchase of a battered George VI Gibbons album to my own pages. Good range of material, though undercut by toning in places. |

Except that I still "run" after missing items in my Yugoslavia reference collection, finally "reach" for few items of Russia (definitives), that are just perfectly design and hard to complete all issued! But, I have it almost complete! |

Just visited a local flea market and couldn't resist this! 1972 vintage and not quite complete (as I found out when I got it home), but it was only £3! Had never seen this game before, given that 1972 was during the 40 year layoff from my stamp collecting. Now to convince someone to play it! Regards DavidR |

I had a few weird board games, stemming from my parents' liking for picking up cheap stuff dug out of the strore-room for the sales. |

Got bombed out of another auction that I can't afford. Maybe it's time to turn into a seller finally. Everything I wanted was selling for $300 and up. |

Added some new stamps for Turkey to my album and noticed I had never inventoried that country, so updating that is next, as I have committed to do each time I add stamps to a country in my albums. Also added some new items to my PNC and Mailer's Postmark Permit collections and started planning some color reference pages for my US Postage Due accumulation. |

I bought stamps on ebay as I do just about everyday. Then got several lots in and went threw them and put them in stock books as I do everyday (a few hours a day). This helps keep my mind sharp in retirement. |

Received another large shipment of used PNC singles and sorted, mounted, and scanned 26 that I didn't have. Also put together some sets of used PNC singles to resell on ebay. |

Been organizing my hodge podge pile of old and newer stamps. Mainly US and China, but also misc sets from about a dozen other countries too. Finally figured out how to borrow the Scott reference books from my local library. Super excited about that. But to deflate my balloon, I'm also reading in various forums that to be realistic, I shouldn't value my collection at more than 60% face value. That's disappointing. |

Deprotinator, this has been pointed out many times by long time collectors here, but unless you are purchasing five figure and up rarities, stamp collecting is not an investment, it is a hobby. You need other reasons for collecting if your interest is going to last. In my case, I have a long standing interest in aviation, so my collecting has focused on US airmail and aviation themed topical stamps and first day covers. An interest in WWII history has led to collecting WWII patriotic covers. So, do you have specific interests that will sustain your collecting? |
