@shermae: Very well done on your French Colonies acquisitions!

I encountered a few of these last week sorting thru my accumulation of glassines and actually took a few minutes off of sorting to stop and admire the stamps. This could easily become my next area of interest.

Is there information on the acid content of 24# Hamerhill paper? The manufacturer claims acid free, but is it really archival quality?

@ddaann: Took a look at the product data sheet for the Hammermill 24 lb Laser Print and it isn't specific about being archival quality.

That said, I haven't had any trouble whatsoever with Hammermill papers degrading over time, and I've been using them for more than 20 years.

I just received three Lighthouse collections covering all of the Great Britain eras. Chock full of mostly used stamps. Now to fill my newly purchased Davo's.

I see what you mean, Geoff about the later issues. It looks even worse than the USA. Thankfully, I paid a pittance for the 1990-2000 stamps. In fact, the postage costs were almost three times the cost of the stamps.

Moving stamps from Lighthouse to Davo, Jack? That's sacrilege! Actually, the designs aren't too bad at all really - there are just far too many of them, and on subjects that don't deserve a stamp. Decent used are probably harder to find than mint, especially as many aren't cancelled anymore. Enjoy!

Since it was cold and wintry out (snow on the ground), I spent most of the day redoing album pages for my Mystic US album. I redid some pages I had done previously since my style changed and add the back side info previously not added.

I also added pages for all the varieties of the "Made in America: Building a Nation" sheets and added a page for 2014 issue the Medal of Honor: Korean War that Scott listed as a minor variety so no page for. I had pairs for the 2013 and 2014 versions so created a page for them.

Went to the Post Office automated servicing kiosk and got some 'Christmas Cookie' labels that match one of the Christmas Carols stamps. Not sure how widely available these are or how long they will be around, so I wanted to set a few aside.

I purchased a Scott US National album with pages 1976-1990. Mostly complete with stamps in black mounts, 4 or 5 full sheets, in good shape for $160.00 and face value was about $183.00. Think of all the time saved mounting stamps, binder, pages, mounts, etc. I think I got a good deal.

Shermae - coincidentally, yesterday evening I was dutifully skimming, with neither hope nor expectation, the Moroccan stock-pages of a French Colonies lot that I bought a while ago, when I realised that the previous owner has mis-sorted the 1917 and 1923 Moroccan issues. There, amongst the 1923 material, were mint copies of the 1, 2, 5 and 10 Franc 1917 engraved issue. A very welcome surprise!

I have finally finished sorting out Transvaal and British South Africa Company perforation varieties in my spare stamps. In general, my perf. gauge estimates were as good as the Perftronic, but about 10% were out by as much as 0.5 of a perf. Its snowing heavily today, so this is ideal weather to be sorting out lots for the next club auction.

Received a package of stamps I won at auction on StampoRama. Sorted these into their appropriate topical categories (Graphics, Music, Portraits, Imperforates and Definitive issues) in my Vario stock binder.
