What Did You Do Philatelically: Today Or Recently?

I just bough one of this https://amzn.to/2GfHmxd usb microscope. It's cheap and helps me document my findings.

Today I have been reading about counterfeits - and now considering to buy a device like this....
"a Shimadzu EDX-700 (Kyoto, Japan) or a µEDX-1300 (Kyoto, Japan) spectrometer. Both instruments basically consist of a Rh target X-ray tube and a Si(Li) detector. The applied voltage for the X-ray tube is 50 kV and the detector dead time 25%. The spectra are sequentially acquired from 0 to 40 keV. The maximum current accepted in the tube can reach 100 µA, but its actual value is regulated by the dead time of the detector, to avoid saturation. The collimator beam is 1 mm for determination of elemental profile and 10 mm in EDX-700 analysis to detected counterfeit samples. ".....

Today I sorted all my Canal Zone stamps into like groups. Next begins the fine sort by quality of the stamps, separating and protecting my mints from damage.

I printed out some Steiner pages for South Georgia (stamps must be a significant part of their GNP) and will mount them today.

Mainly penguins that use the stamps, I imagine, as the whaling industry is gone. Best known for Shackleton's epic voyage, described in South.

Just bought a N.B. 10Pii from Saskatoon stamp Centre - to complete my "proof" N.B. collection and it is a pair, se-tenant.
btw....no Connell proof in my collection......it was never issued as a real "stamp" for the Cent issues of New Brunswick. My opinion based on the history of this...

just wrote a small article for the ISWSC.ORG. circuit.

I just purchased a set of 5 Lighthouse Vario-G binders and now looking at the prospect of needing more as I have been busily creating pages to add stamps. This leads to needing to redo my shelving since the binders with slip case a wee bit taller so will not fit on the shelves without sacrificing a shelf (short height).

Angore - haha, I'm facing exactly the same dilemma! My current shelves are custom made for Lighthouse stockbooks, but as I am now in progress of replacing the stockbooks with Vario Classic Grande, the shelves are exactly 5mm too low

I wonder why that pair is described as se-tenant - in mye eyes it looks like a regular pair? Gorgeous anyway, unusual to see those combi steam/sailship pictured on stamps.

Ordered the new 2018 United States Perfins Catalog (pdf and Excel file combo).

Saturday, I went to a stamp auction run by the North East Philatelic association in England. A small auction run between about 10 local stamp clubs. Bids started at 30p (about 50cents US) I got 11 penny red for £1.50, a ship letter cover Hamburg to Edinburgh 1847 with 2 hand stamped ship marks as it got transferred from one ship to another to make the journey. After two journeys by ship and one by train it still arrived on the second day. That cost £15.oo, Got two sets of GB postage dues from the 1970s and 80s for £2.50. They are lightly hinged and the one pound is a spacefiller. But I was able to examine them before purchase so I am happy with what I got.
Just under 700 lots went under the hammer and there were around 20 bidders. Acoustics, Light, Space, Free Parking (a growing rarity in the UK) all superb. Endless tea and coffee at the back of the hall make your own 20p a cup. No one got rich but a lot of collectors went away happy.

It sounds as though you (and a lot of others) had a good time. A live auction is great. There's a general auction house in a town near us here in Yorkshire which seems to have quite a few lots of stamp collections in their monthly auctionsand I keep meaning to be more organised and go there and bid!

I went to a stamp fair in my town today. There were four dealers and I was the only customer (around 11am)

I went through one dealer's junk boxes and bought a page of Turkish Cyprus (30p) and a bunch of covers from exotic places like Andorra and Angola for anything from 10-50p.

No sales for the guys with stockbooks full of Penny Blacks selling at £75-100 each.

Some of the prices were really absurd -- like a small bag of rubbish Germany kiloware (about 50g!) for £5 (US$7). Makes me wonder if he ever sold anything like that.
