Forwarded scan of US 240 to Ralph Trimble for double transfer inquiry. We enjoyed a very pleasant exchange. His enthusiasm for this specialty area really rubs off!

Pulled stamps from my latest ISWSC swap circuit and dropped it into the post. Also slowly adding stamps I bought from APS circuits to my WW collection. Hoping to find time to soak some Japan kiloware this afternoon.

I went to my regional stamp convention, (NEPA in England) good as usual over 30 displays of 10 or 12 sheets each.
Stamps on sale at prices from 2 pence to hundreds of pounds. Bought 18 covers for £12 mainly British cancels and postmarks. got one penny post pre stamp cover with a nice clear tombstone postmark indicating post paid. I was quite pleased to get an example of a penny red that had gone black with atmospheric pollution. A superb specimen of a "spoiled" stamp.

Today I went to WESTPEX, where I bought:
— five MNH stamps from the 4th Bureau Issue for my U.S. collection (still plenty of expensive spaces to fill!)
— some MNH stamps of topical interest: Russia #2601 (Mesrop Mashtots), Netherlands #1080 (Cartoon Network booklet), Japan #3822-23 (Moomin sheetlets)
— a maximum card of U.S. #2538 (William Saroyan)
— seven items for my nascent "A Mint 19th-Century Postal Card from Everywhere" collection, from Bavaria, Brazil (Empire), Hawaii (Kingdom), Hawaii (Republic), Hungary, Mauritius, and Hanauer Privat-Briefverkehr (private local post in Hanau, Germany, birthplace of the Brothers Grimm).
— assorted picture postcards: two old Japanese cards of women in traditional garb (one postally used in Los Angeles in 1913); three old patriotic cards featuring a woman, a girl, and the French flag; an amusing card from New Zealand of a Maori haka; and a card of local interest, depicting a train from the San Francisco Bay Area's BART system ("Most Modern Transportation System in the World")
— Vario 1C, 1S, and 2S sheets.

I have been mounting more stamps in my British Commonwealth albums. Since I use the print Steiner pages on demand on demand, I printed pages and country cover pages. Then add them to Stamp Manage.

I spent some time last night looking through some Swiss William Tell (and son) copies for varieties and shades. Good thing I have a microscope.

Donated about 300 stamps to the Large stamp exchange group, yes I paid for shipping, with a tracking number I might add, and it felt good. I did something for the hobby and the exchange of stamps.

Spend time plating this new acquisition. perf 11 3/4 by 11 3/4. A rare multiple, and very well centered for this issue. Conclusion: plate position 52,53,54,62,63,64.
