I did that today with a bunch of British overprinted/surcharged stamps from Aden, Kuwait, and Bahrain, before I realized that the next group of similar stamps in front of me were from Muscat and Oman. They are surcharged only (no identifying overprint of the country) in Annas and Rupees. I went through a long list of countries in my head of countries in that part of the world. About the 15th country in my head was Muscat and Oman. Sheesh.
Did you mean Qatar? British stamps have never been overprinted for use in Aden. The British Empire ran post offices in the Arabian Gulf States. Overprinted Indian stamps were used. After India's independence, overprinted British stamps were used. Furthermore, Kuwait asked Great Britain to run its postal service.
Stamps without a country name were used in Dubai, Muscat, Abu Dhabi and Qatar. For a short period, they were used in Kuwait due to a shortage of the stamps overprinted for Kuwait. Similar stamps overprinted Bahrain were used in that colony. Later, stamps overprinted "Qatar" replaced the ones without a country name. The ones without a name are known as stamps for the "British Postal Agencies in Eastern Arabia."
There are more overprints of British stamps.
