Mount Preference

looking at starting to purchase mounts to set up my collection in a better format (currently using vario sheets, but that has shortfalls).

browsing subway stamps' website, I see several brands (some of which I have never heard of), but have pretty much narrowed my choices down to 1)Hawid, 2)Showgard, or 3)SCOTT. Before I make a final decision, I would like to hear some input from others who have had experience with any of these. Pros?? Cons??

I have a very unique and bizarre idea for displaying my stamps (but will wait until I figure out all the logistics before I give out any details), and am currently doing the cost analysis to figure out if I really want to do this. Just based on cost, SCOTT mounts appear to be the cheapest, but how does the quality factor in? Would it be worth it to spend a little more for the Showgard or Hawid?

Scott mounts are excellent.

Bizarre display ????.......nothing could be more bizarre than a guy I heard about that laminated every stamp in his collection.

Personally, I have found Scott and Sowgard mounts to be equal.

I use Scott or Showgard black mounts interchangeably. The Hawid had the slit on the top (or bottom) side so stamps slid out more easily.

I use Scott or Showgard and there is no difference between them. However, the Scott packages can be snapped open and reclosed for convenience.

I've used Showgard for decades and like them, but then again, Scott mounts are just as good. You might check out Amos Advantage for their prices.

I agree that Scott & Showguard mounts are equally excellent. I do prefer the packaging the Scott mounts come in.

While I do appreciate the convenience of Scott packaging there is an availablity of Showgards at approx. half price. Check out the pricing available from corbett405@sbcglobal.net.

I use Hawid mounts they seem more readily available here in Australia.
