Hi guys...Since our friend Ralph (re-entries.com)is adjusting to some very sad affairs in his life, I am not about to bother him with menial stuff....So I am looking at all my friends out there to help with identifying whether or not this 1898 Map stamp is classified as a re-entry.

I believe it to be a re-entry..Any help/opinions would be appreciated

Robert

Robert,

That stamp looks like plate 2A position 47 to me. The red plate has some particularly strong characteristics for identifying this position. Could you post an image of the entire stamp?

Assuming this is 2A 47, then the various marks you mention are considered to be from a re-entry.

Yes, agree. Looking at re-entries.com, this looks a lot like 2A-47. Good eyes!

Yes the frame is definitely 2A-47. Interestingly the Red Pacific Islands look different than Roberts. Robert, you did previously have the complete stamp shown - can you post it again?

My Map Stamp page at FlySpecker.com has been updated with a few new stamps plus a detailed look at position 47 of red plate A and its varieties as it appears in combination with black plates 1, 2 and 3.

Take a look: http://flyspecker.com/85-86.html
